Where does the traffic come from
that shows up on your website?
Studies show that the percentage
ranges from 70-80%. Of that percent, the search engines
with the largest number of searches are those shown in the chart
below:

You can understand why we pay so
much attention to Google if you also know these additional
facts:
- Yahoo uses Google's results
right after the paid listings (called sponsored matches)
whenever you conduct a "web site" search on
Yahoo.com That gives Google a potential additional 38%
share from Yahoo (24% + 38% = 62%)
- Unlike most of the other
search engines, Google puts their web page matches at the
very top of thier results. Although they do accept
sponsored links, those are placed over on the right-hand
side of the page, where they get less attention.
- Google does not accept banner
advertising, giving even more attention to the search
results.
- Google will not add any sites
to their index if the sites have no external links to them.

| Do you have
an online store?
If you do, you know that your number
one goal is to get potential buyers to visit your store, see what you
have to offer and make a purchase.
Do you know how the "Big
Boys" get traffic to their websites? |
| What if you could do this with a
GUARANTEE that you will only pay for that traffic when a sale is
made? That's what affiliate programs are all about!
Until a sale is made, you get free
"banner impressions" (usually a very expensive form of
advertising), free "branding" (so people come to know your
name), and free "click-throughs" (this gets expensive if
competitors click on your paid links).
If you think this is a great way to
advertise online, you're right! The only hard part is finding
companies and websites to join your affiliate program. That's
where MIVA comes in. If you start your own program as a
merchant, you can then find affiliates to join your program so you can
start making sales.
